Silence is king!
Taking driving lessons in a Toyota Prius hybrid car is a comfortable and pleasant experience and also a very silent one. As soon the Prius comes to a complete stop, the combustion engine will stop running leaving nothing but silence inside the cabin..... When the brake is released the car moves gently and quiet forward powered by its electric motor.
Sticks are outdated!
In Holland driving a car with an automatic gear change has always been considered something for old folks or for those who just could not get a hang of changing gears manually, but this deeply rooted idea is changing rapidly. Our roads are one of the most congested in Europe and this will not improve. On the contrary within a few years 80% during daytime there will be congestion around our main cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, the Hague. Imagine driving back and forth to the office for more than an hour with all that traffic piling up, the fun of changing gears with a stick will soon be over!
Speed course stick-shift.
So it's obvious that also in the Netherlands the popularity of cars with an automatic gear change is increasing. Since the majority of our foreign clients have been driving automatics we see no reason in continuing our lessons in a stick-shift. Until March 2010 however we do provide speed courses for the stick-shift. But in order to attempt this course you are required to have passed the theoretical test first. And of course a speed course will be a time consuming event, so daytime availability is a requirement too.The space for this course is very limited, make sure you contact us in time!

This is a link to a website supported by the CBR (the organization where you do your driving test) and "het Ministerie van Verkeer en Waterstaat" But what it comes down to is the following: from your day of arrival in the Netherlands you are allowed to drive with your foreign drivers license for 185 days. If you continue driving after that time, you are violating the Dutch law and are also not insured in case of an accident even if you were not causing it! |
Autorijschool Maxor is maintaining the following price ranges for their services:
one lesson = 60 minutes. The price for one lesson = € 42,50
Only under exceptional circumstances we work with split-hours, but in general a lesson hour starts and ends on the whole hour.
In general the first lesson starts at 10 AM (after rush hour)
The last lesson starts at 8 PM
Depending on the location where you reside it is possible to pick you up from home. Most effective though are the lessons that can take place in Amsterdam-West, so we prefer to start driving lessons from a set location like a train station (Sloterdijk, CS e.g.) close to the so called "Exam Area"
